Employers across the state are concerned about finding and keeping skilled employees. Workers, especially here in Fairfield County, are struggling with the high cost of living in Connecticut. In order to keep the state competitive, the needs of employers and employees must take center stage in planning and problem solving.
In October 2006, individuals representing business, education, workforce development and non-profits attended roundtable discussions at NCC to discuss work and employment in Fairfield County. The topics of the sessions included linking workers to work, workforce education and training and work supports. The roundtable discussions resulted in a desire by participants to dig deeper into the issues and to develop possible solutions to the issues faced by employers and employees.
At the March 19th forum, a brief overview of the roundtables will be given. Participants then will meet in groups to develop solutions and broad strategies, and the full group will meet to review recommendations.
This event is jointly sponsored by NCC, The Business Council of Fairfield County, and the Connecticut Association for Human Services.
