Theater Auditions Feb. 5, 6 and 7 for NCC Production of "Central Park"

NCC THEATER AUDITIONS: Everything you'll want to know....



1. WHAT IS "CENTRAL PARK?
Two one-act plays and three musical-theater sketches that all transpire in Central Park: These include:

Edward Albee's ZOO STORY : a psychological and suspenseful drama that starts with one man interrogating a stranger... and ends with a shocking revelation. (Recipient of the NY Drama Desk Award)

A LITTLE BOX OF OBLIVION: an absurdist comedy. When a woman asks a stranger to watch a mysterious box for her, everyone around develops theories of what its contents might be... (Recipient of "All England Theater Festival" Best Play)

MUSICAL-THEATER SKETCHES: "Money Makes the World Go Around", "Run, Freedom, Run," and "Somwhere" .... all of which will be staged "in Central Park."



2. WHEN AND WHERE IS THE SHOW?
The production runs on April 24th and 25th at 5:30pm in the PepsiCo Theater, with a preview on April 23rd at 7:30pm.



3. WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE AUDITIONS?
Actors will sign up for a 15-minute time slot during in one of the following time frames:

Tuesday, February 5th: 10am-12:50pm, 4:15pm-9:30pm

Wednesday,February 6th: 10am-11:20am, 1:00pm-2:20pm

Thursday, Feb 7th, 5pm-7pm are call backs (everyone who is called back will come as a group for a second audition.)

Auditions are in both the PepsiCo Theater and Room E108, depending on time slot. Please see E108 bulletin board for specfics.



4. HOW DO I SIGN UP AND WHAT HAPPENS AT THE AUDITION?
The sign-up list is on the bulletin board at E108. Information about the auditions, the rehearsal schedule, copies of the script and audition forms will all be available to take. If you are auditioning for a non-singing role (for the two plays), you will read from the script at auditions. If you are auditioning for a musical sketch you will sing a song of your choice at the audition. (Please bring either a karaoke version of your song or sheet music.)



5. CAN I GET COLLEGE CREDIT FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PRODUCTION?
Yes. Students who work on a full-theater production, either onstage or behind the scenes can enroll in Theater Practicum. Contact Christine Mangone (see below) for information on this course.


6. WHEN ARE REHEARSALS?
Rehearsal times are somewhat flexible, depending on who is cast. Specifically,
Musical Theater Sketches: Tuesday and Thursday late afternoons
A Little Box of Oblivion: Tuesday nights and either Thursday late afternoon/early evening or Fridays late mornings.
Zoo Story: Tuesday nights and other days - flexible, depending on casts' schedules.
*If you have rehearsal conflicts, come to the auditions anyway to see if it's possible to work out.
