The Norwalk Community College 2014 Academic Festival will take place on April 2-3, 2014.
The theme of this year’s Festival is “Super Men and Wonder Women: What’s Your Superpower?”
Festival events will emphasize the transformative capabilities inherent in each of us, with which we can change our own lives and positively impact those around us.
All events are free and open to the public.
Nearly three dozen events are scheduled, including lectures, demonstrations, film screenings, panel discussions and a musical presentation.
On Wednesday, April 2, the keynote address will be delivered at 2:30 p.m. in the PepsiCo Theater by Marvel’s Bill Rosemann, an editor who has worked on most of the iconic properties in the comics industry, such as Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Ironman and Captain America. He will speak about the superhero as a metaphor and the many social issues addressed by the comics industry.
On Thursday, April 3, activities will be anchored by a documentary film screening of “The Image Revolution” at 1 p.m. in the GenRe Forum, followed by a Q&A session by members of the film’s creative staff. The documentary chronicles how a group of superstar artists from Marvel Comics changed the comics industry forever when they founded Image Comics.
