The fifth Spring offering of Norwalk Community College’s popular Movies-of-the-Month FREE Film Series will be the hilarious 2009 British comedy PIRATE RADIO, starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kenneth Branaugh, Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy, and Rhys Ifans.
Admission is free and the public is invited.
Set in the mid-1960s, it is the story of a fictional off-shore “pirate” radio station that keeps broadcasting to its listeners in the United Kingdom the kind of rock and roll that the BBC at that time refused to play (such stations did, in fact, exist at that time). Meanwhile. The British government tries everything in its power to shut them down. Great soundtrack of 1960s classics; great ensemble cast.
As usual, our film will be shown at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 3, in the East Campus PepsiCo Theater. Hope to see you there for what promises to be a raucous, fun and music-filled evening, hosted by Madeline Barillo, NCC’s Director of Public Relations (and film buff). The movie is rated R.
