Lincoln In His Own Words

Saturday, October 20, 2 pm

Actor Larry Schneider will read from several speeches and letters penned by Abraham Lincoln.  Mr. Schneider’s selections will include the Cooper Union Address that brought Lincoln into the national spotlight, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address, and the Bixby letter written to a widowed mother of five boys believed to have died in the Civil War.

This film tells the story of Mary Surratt, the lone female charged as a co-conspirator in the assassination trial of Abraham Lincoln, and the first woman put to death by the U.S. government.  2010.  Directed by Robert Redford.  123 minutes.
