The 27th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Regiment During the Civil War

Join Corporal J.W. Hull, Jr. for an evening of Civil War history. He will present in full historical uniform including forage cap, brogans, full knapsack and musket. A historical re-enactor for over 14 years, Corporal Hull will cover the history of the 27th Regiment, the equipment and rations used during this time, and what daily life was like during combat and non-combat during the Civil War.
Lincoln Storytime and Craft

A storytime in honor of the 16th president! Inspired by the picture books What Lincoln Said, by Sarah L. Thomson, and Our Abe Lincoln, adapted by Jim Aylesworth, young readers will learn about the president’s early life and achievements. Craft projects may include a presidential mask and log-building activity. Ages 5-8.
Tween Book Group for Chasing Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson

This book discussion will look at the events leading up to and following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, as covered in the book Chasing Lincoln’s Killer. Adapted from the adult book, Manhunt, author James L. Swanson takes kids on a fast-paced, nail-biting ride to catch the infamous John Wilkes Booth. Looking at archival photos and other primary sources, participants will get a glimpse into a shocking and mournful time in our nation’s history. Ages 9-12.
