Summer 2008 

The Insurance and Financial Center is a collaboration of the Connecticut Insurance and Financial Services Cluster, Capital Community College, The Workplace, Inc., State of CT Department of Economic and Community Development, and Norwalk Community College. It is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.  

The IFS Center’s goal is to design and deliver employer-endorsed training for the insurance, banking and financial industry.  To qualify for these tuition-free courses you must be either a) employed by an insurance, banking or financial services organization and sponsored by your employer;  or b) dislocated/unemployed and seeking employment in the IFS industry.

Professional - Level

BUSINESS ANALYST CERTIFICATE

This course is usually only available on employer sites but this summer the entire program will be offered on campus. Lecture and a case study will be used to provide students an opportunity to create the necessary set of deliverables to accomplish their analyst functions. To ensure maximum participation registration is limited. This course is modeled after the IIBA Version 1 Business Analyst Book of Knowledge (BABOK). Workshops will be done in teams based on a written case study. This course is 10 full-day sessions.

SERIES 63 -- June 16, 18, 23 & 25

The Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination was developed by NASAA in cooperation with representation with representatives of the securities industry and industry associations. The Series 63 exam is designed to qualify candidates as securities agents. The examination covers the principles of state securities regulation reflected in the Uniform Securities
Act. The examination is intended to provide a basis for state securities administrators to determine an applicant’s knowledge and understanding of state law and regulations. These four 3-hour sessions will prepare students to take the Series 63 exam.
