New Students

Step 1. Applying to NCC

Please submit a new student application and $20.00 fee. New students may apply online, or submit a paper application in person or via mail or fax. An application may be obtained from the Admissions Package page of this web site. Credit card payment is required for online and fax-in applications.

Immunization Requirements

If you were born after December 31, 1956, Connecticut State Law requires that all full-time (degree seeking and non-degree/non-matriculating) and part-time matriculating students enrolled in postsecondary schools be adequately protected against measles, mumps and rubella. In addition, beginning on August 1, 2010 all full-time and matriculating students, except those born in the continental United States prior to January 1, 1980, must provide proof of immunization against varicella (chicken pox). Students must have two (2) doses of each vaccine administered at least one (1) month apart to insure adequate immunization.

You must bring in proof of immunization or you will not be able to register for classes.

The Admissions office also needs proof of high school graduation or GED accreditation if you are applying to an NCC certificate or degree program or if you are seeking financial aid. *Financial Aid (Pell Grant) may be available for Summer for new students. Please contact the Financial Aid office at 203.857.7023 or stop by the Financial Aid office at East 105 for more information.

Step 2. Placement Testing or Waiver of Placement Test

Students who have not earned college credit in English and Math and do not meet SAT score requirements are required to take our basic skills placement test. Placement test appointments can be made on the web at HERE. You will need to have your student ID number and a valid email address. Your student ID number will be provided to you after you apply and receive your admissions acknowledgment email.

Your ID number will begin with the @ symbol, and is not to be confused with your G number.

Students who have SAT scores of 450 for English and 550 for Math are exempt from the placement test. Bring in an unofficial copy of your test scores when registering for classes, and have an official copy sent from CollegeBoard to the NCC Admissions office.

Students who have college credits may be exempt from the placement test. In order for the placement test to be waived and to demonstrate that you have the prerequisites for NCC courses, bring an unofficial copy of your transcripts with you when applying for admission and when registering for classes.

Step 3. Registering for Classes

If you were required to take a placement test, registration instructions will be given to you upon completion of the exam.

If placement testing is waived, contact the Counseling Center for a registration appointment or register at a Walk-In registration session. SAT scores or unofficial copies of transcripts verifying placement test waiver or pre-requisites are required for registration.
