To support the major goals and objectives of Norwalk Community College, the Marketing and Public Relations Office is responsible for internal and external communications including fostering effective relationships with the media; developing and coordinating the execution of academic publications and marketing/advertising materials; and overseeing content on the NCC Website and Social Media. The Marketing and Public Relations Office helps NCC accomplish its mission by building sound relationships with the college’s constituencies and public groups.

The Public Relations Office staff includes Madeline Barillo, director (203/857-7039); Cindy Zaref, graphic design associate (203/857-7264); and Karen Hart, educational assistant (203/857-7259). The office is located in Room E320 in the East Campus building.
The Marketing and Public Relations Office serves Norwalk
Community College’s mission by providing timely, relevant and honest
information to all internal and external audiences.
Marketing and Public Relations reports to Rose Ellis, Dean of
Administration. We work with local, state and national media to promote
NCC and its faculty, staff and students. We inform the public and NCC’s
internal community about the quality and diversity of the learning
environment, the relevance of NCC’s programming to workforce needs, and
the college’s commitment to create a culture of assessment focused on
students.
Our department develops and markets news and
feature stories on college events, programs and workforce initiatives,
student achievements, and faculty expertise to the print and broadcast
media outlets. We do this through press releases, personal pitches to
reporters, press conferences (when appropriate) and postings on the
College website.
We produce a weekly in-house electronic
newsletter titled “This Week at NCC” as well as more than 40 degree
program brochures and 25 certificate program brochures each year.
We also produce the College Annual Report, credit division Class Sch
As a public two-year institution supported with tax dollars, Norwalk Community College has a responsibility to be open, honest and responsive to information requests from the public and the media. Whenever possible, information about NCC programs and students is made available to the public, in the absence of a compelling reason for confidentiality.
