The ESL lab is designed for ESL students to practice listening comprehension, reading/writing, grammar, vocabulary, and speaking/pronunciation using audio, video, pair discussions/conversations, and online resources.

Accommodating up to 27 students at one time, the lab uses Sony SANS, a digital language lab environment with onscreen consoles. Digital and analog audio and video can be sent to each student while students take notes onscreen or on paper. Students can interact with each other in pair work and group discussions and with the instructor using their headsets. Instructors can monitor students' written and oral work and give immediate feedback.
Software allows students to practice grammar, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and TOEFL. Self-study lessons can be completed onscreen using the Self-Study Module. DVDs, VHS, audio cassettes, audio CDs, and digital files can be utilized in the lab.
Students in 022, 132, and 142 attend a 50 minute lab each week, but all ESL students are welcome to use the lab for self-study: pronunciation, listening comprehension, online audio programs, grammar, writing assignments, and research. The lab has open hours when students can practice grammar, listening, reading, pronunciation, and TOEFL on their own. Check the lab schedule for the hours.
