Counseling Services
The Developmental Studies Counselor specializes in addressing the unique concerns of students who place into developmental courses, providing counseling and advising in a broad range of areas:
- Advising in the selection and scheduling of appropriate courses
- Answering questions of first-time college students
- Helping to navigate college policies and procedures
- Counseling in self-advocacy and interpersonal communication skills
- Assisting in resolving academic difficulties
- Counseling in addressing personal issues that interfere with academic progress
- Instructing in learning strategies
- Making referrals to other college services
- Making referrals to community agencies
The Developmental Studies Counselor also coordinates services for
students with disabilities enrolled in academic courses at the college.
