Connecticut Community College – Nursing Program
(CTCC-NP) -- Norwalk Campus

Change in Admission Start Date
Important Information

Thank you for your interest in the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program at Norwalk Community College.  We pride ourselves in the quality of our graduates and their contribution to the health and welfare of our community.  To better meet community needs, beginning fall semester 2008, Norwalk Community College will begin admitting students in both the fall and spring semesters.  The new admission dates will enable us to increase the number of students we can accept into our program, result in smaller classes and more individualized attention from instructors, and allow for more efficient use of clinical resources in hospitals and other health care settings.

For the admission cycle of February 1st 2008, 112 qualified students chosen via the CTCC-NP admissions formula will be accepted. The top qualified candidates will receive letters of acceptance.

How the student will be chosen for a nursing course start date:

64 students will be assigned a fall semester start date based upon the CT-CCNP ranking system
o Students may request a transfer to the spring semester if they wish to prepare for the rigorous nursing program by completing additional general education course work.
o Students who have more than four general education courses to complete for the program are encouraged to speak to an advisor to determine their individual optimal semester start date.

48 students will be assigned a spring semester start date based upon CT-CCNP random selection system
o If a fall semester start date becomes available, students will be chosen randomly from the spring semester class roster.

All other qualified students who are not accepted will be placed on the “Waiting List”.
o Students on the Waiting List will be placed in the spring semester as slots become available.

The faculty and staff at NCC ask for your patience as we make the transition to starting classes every semester.
