Now that you have started your college career at NCC, you are sure to have a variety of questions.  Fortunately, we provide a full morning each semester (on the day before classes start) to address your questions.

NCC extends a special invitation to all new students and their parents to attend our Orientation Program.  Held in August and January, Orientation runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  You will need to have registered for classes before attending.  You should also call 857-7000  to check on its scheduling in the event of extreme or inclement weather.

Orientation will help you make a smooth transition into your new academic environment.  You will have the opportunity to discuss course requirements, grading, and transfer credits and you will get a chance to meet other students who are beginning the same journey as you.

Orientation includes a welcome to the College from our administration, and is followed by a general information session.  There is a special focus group for new students and their parents and several workshops will be offered.  These workshops include: "How to Maximize Use of the Library Resources Center," "Everything You Need to Know About College," and "Preparing for the Job Market."  Students will then get a chance to visit with members of the Student Advisory Board and take a thorough tour of NCC's campus.  At that point, you will get an opportunity to identify specific classrooms and places of importance for you.  For that reason, it is critical that you have already registered for classes so that you will have a clear idea of the classrooms or laboratories in which you will instructed.

We strongly urge new students to take advantage of Orientation.  It will help you start your new academic career on a solid foundation.  And it will be easier to fulfill your requirements if you take advantage of this opportunity to meet counselors and academic advisors before the semester formally begins.

In any event, we want to take this opportunity to welcome you to NCC and to extend our most sincere wishes for academic success and personal fulfillment here at the College.
