MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field and two to five years of experience in human resource management with a concentration in benefits ( including retirement ) and human resources management systems (HRMS) is required. A combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties may be considered. He/she must demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the mission of the community college and have the ability to communicate and work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Experience in employee training and orientation programs
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
Knowledge of conflict and grievance resolution processes
Ability to evaluate financial records and provide budgeting assistance

Knowledge of and expertise in CORE CT is a plus.
The Human Resource Specialist is responsible for the management of the HRMS; employee orientation and training programs; benefit administration; retirement counseling; assistance with grievance investigation and resolution; assistance with contract and policies administration for classified and unclassified staff; training and development; and works closely with payroll staff to ensure appropriate payment to employees.
The Human Resource Specialist reports to the Director of Human Resources. This position may supervise professional and administrative support staff, and student employees as assigned. The position has extensive relationships with staff, faculty, administration, and student employees of the College.
$57,164.00 approximate annual plus excellent State medical insurance, retirement and related fringe benefits.
